In this episode, Peter interviews Artist Sarah Jane Moon.
Sarah Jane is a painter whose work often explores identity, sexuality and community. She’s particularly known for her portraits of queer sitters, work that combines boldness, colour and sensitivity where these works have been exhibited internationally.
In the first half of the episode, Sarah Jane talks about how she became an Artist, her practice and some of her notable commissions. In particular, they talk about her portrait of human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell which hangs in the National Portrait Gallery in London and the process of this portrait, from first sitting through to acquisition by the gallery.
In the second half, Sarah Jane and Peter discuss the business side of being an Artist, including Sarah Jane’s teaching practice and her current position as chair of the Contemporary British Portrait Painters.
